This was the first year attending IRX for us and we understand this year’s show was busier than previous years. There was a good spread of retailer of all sizes not just the big boys, which in our opinion is a positive indication that internet retailing and business in general continues to be picking up.
Our opinion was galvanised by the conversations we with visitors to our booth, which revolved around some common themes.
Site development was a very popular topic with lots of conversations ranging from launching new sites, adding new responsive mobile capabilities to tackle site migration to provide new functionality.
In the same growth vein, market expansion was a regular topic of conversation with many retailers considering the best ways to setting up cross border trading with logistical and payment challenges being top of the list.
Website and third party performance was another regular topic with a variety of issues from Smartphone support, to CDN performance and where best to allocate budgets to increase sales.
There were many presentations on the future use of more technology to automate and improve the efficiency of the internet retailing experience with drone deliveries, speech recognition, and in-home assistants. Nevertheless, the increased use of technology assistants will only make customer journey experience monitoring stronger as the most critical way of analysing the performance of the online retail experience.
It was great to witness a vibrant and confident industry looking to take full advantage of the improving market conditions and latest technology advancements. We are looking forward to the next instalment of our own journey.
