SciVisum Launches Host Groups Features

As eCommerce and Online communities grow more sophisticated and the back end technology more complex with the integration of many internal and external systems SciVisum has launched a suite of Host Management features in response to our clients’ requests.

Whether using website performance monitoring data for realtime support and maintainence, or for long term trend analyis for budgeting, capacity planning or development prioritization everyone is noticing that the number of different hosts, internally controlled, cloud based or external, now involved in running an average website is increasing, and more detailed, intelligent data is needed to make sense of that.

Our new Host Suite now enables clients to:

  • Create, define and configure bespoke “Host Groups” for monitoring and reporting
  • Fully configurable alerting by Host Groups
  • Indicate errors causes by 3rd party hosts on the live Wallboards

Configure Host Group Settings

Hosts can now be grouped under 3 different headings:

  • Internal Hosts
  • External Hosts: Customer Impact
  • External Hosts: No Customer Impact

This enables technical staff to instantly see where the route of any problems with hosts lie and saves time and effort in analysing and tracking down errors.

The Host Settings page shows you the different hosts configured for each Host Group. Wherever you see the host display name, you can hover over it, to see the details of that host configuration. This page is where you add new hosts and edit existing ones. We have also introduced the concept of User Friendly display names for hosts, as well as the Host Pattern (the actual host address), that can be displayed in host reports in the portal.

Host Groups Alerting Feature

User who are “Alert Contacts” that receive emails and SMS messages on error states can choose to filter your alerts by Host Group.

3rd Part Hosts Alert Issue Annotation

We create an automatic “Alert Issue” annotation for a client which provides in depth details of the error. This can be added to or edited by the client so that notes exist against the error for future use.
